Calling all gun experts! This turned up today, is it 25pdr limber , 25 pdr main gun axle , 17 pdr ?? over to you guys
	It's on 8.25 x 20 wheels Attachment 64580 Attachment 64582 Attachment 64581 Attachment 64583 |

Hi Andrew, it is the main axle from a 25pdr.
	Colin. |

I think it might be a No. 27 limber axle but not the wheels.
	 |

I think the axle is upside down but I'm a bit confused, has the brake been repositioned? It is not a 25 pounder as they are tapered and don't have the box mounting arrangement the limber has.

The brake component's are from the No 27 limber ,looks like a bit of a mash up !
	Rob...............rnixartillery. |

The wheels are from a 3 tonner or similar.

The handbrake lever on the lefthand side in the first photo appears to have been shortened at the top , been cut and rewelded about four inches down.
The wheels I have not seen before , have only a slight dish in them , doesn,t 25 pdr rims have 4 lugs on the outside of the rim? |

 Andrew,
The 25 pdr is on 9.00/16" Artillery wheels, with a ring and bead and yes it has the lugs . Rob.................rnixartillery. |

 Axle

		Hi Andrew,
You have found a Limber/Trailer No. 27 hubs and axle. Wheels are not 25pdr or Limber. Good find. |

 axle

rims are blitz 20" where as limber and 25 pr used 16" but bolt pattern the same, jerry rigged handbrake using a lot of original bits, limber axle. good find.

 Axle Identity Established

Thanks for the replies , so I think we have established that it is a no. 27 gun limber axle that should be on 9.00x 16 rims , threads on the wheel nuts appear to be BSF , as my Canadian ones off the Lynx don't screw on.
The rims in the pic are 20 inch CMP rims , I must have had a brain fade on the rims ,because I have a rear engine armoured car that uses these. Anybody out there restoring one of these Limbers ? Cheers. |

Andrew, brain fade at your age. You're on the way to being a SOB (silly old buggar)
I thought the small CMP wheel studs had BSF threads. |
