Clutch rod assembly for mk1*
Just cleaning the control rods etc and I have come to do the clutch lever control rod... It's the one which hinges on the central bulkhead. The rod itself that connects to the clutch lever on the gearbox is bent all over the knot end ! Should it be this way or should it be straight ?
|
Richard, how much of a bend? I believe there should be a slight bend or two to clear the engine and bell housing. Pics?
|
I think straight. Only because continually flexing makes no sense.
See the thread "control rods" |
Richard, if it is the same as the Aust one, and I assume it would be similar, then it should have 2 bends in it from the bellhouse lever to the bulk head and a straight section to the pedal.

You guys have forced me to look more carefully, and the parts book backs up what you say.

..
I like parts manuals...

Charlie, as the owner of many carriers, can you confirm that they have 2 bends, how far from each end, and what the angles are? (we are talking about CTL 7111)
On another note, when I was at Colins he had a clutch arm (TL 2731 ) it took the standard pin to locate it, but was also clamped tight with a pinch bolt. I hadn't seen one like that before. Are they common? |
...
standard pins and cotters on mine ( I think ).......
If all goes according to plan , I'll be pushing and pulling things about this afternoon and will look then. Maybe even make a photographic rendering. I'd do a charcoal sketch but it's hard to mail a cave wall. |
One cavwe wall...

Lets see how this goes: (from a carrier hull on its way to a new home...)
The tape was hooked over the end of the clevis as shown in pic 3... from the bulkhead end , the first bend is at about 18" the matching bend is at the rear clevis total offset is about 2" and of course the axis pins are parallel... |
