Iltis CFR

It has been popular belief that the last digits of the Iltis VIN were used as the vehicle's CFR number, i.e., BI 01 01 85 86321, where BI represents 'Bombardier Iltis', followed by the Model: 01 (basic), 02 (tailgate), and 03 (ambulance). The next four numbers show the Month/Year of manufacture (January 1985) and, finally, the five-digit will often also be the Canadian Forces Registration (CFR).
Looking at the hundreds of pages of CFR numbers I obtained from DND there appear to be about 50 vehicles where these 5 digits in the VIN are not used as the CFR number.
This will require some research as it is possible the 5 digit number was used for a different vehicle.

Post some of the numbers and those with the EDR viewer access can see if there is any older records on those CFRs.
