Can anyone ID this trailer?

This thing didn't move from this spot for many years. Finally curious to what it actually is.

David,

I believe this particular trailer has been shown on the forum before......can't remember what the concensus was, but to me it looks a lot like a 3ton GS body made into a trailer, with more CMP parts used along the way.

Thanks for the info, Alex. That photo is about 30 years old and the farmer that owned it was not the friendliest, hence the long distance shots from the highway. In fact, I believe Peter Ford dropped those photos off with me on one of his trips through Winnipeg, as he was the first to spot it East of town a ways. It sat in that same spot for at least 20 years and I think it has been seen by quite a few of the local MV guys. Don't think anyone ever got a close inspection for data plates etc. May even still be there. Over time, when you know it's not accessible, you tend to tune it out in passing.

I'll bet you.....

It is a CMP trailer of some sort, could be GS or other configuration....

It seems like a complete CMP trailer up to the first layer of steel decking.... then some one transplanted a 3 ton GS box over it..... seems to be too layers of steel from the side. The front turn tbale arrangement is extremely similar to a CMP trailer..... the cargo version would have had a shorter box and partly over the front axle should be a large tool/canvass cover storage box. Also the original traielr box would have had slightly higher sides....

The added triangular piece near the back section is added on......

The photo posted by Bob shows the 3 ton version. There was a 5 ton on a similar looking chassis (I think the main difference on the chassis was the turntable for steering) that had the box extending to the front of the chassis, replacing the tool/storage box at the front.

Had to do some digging to find the pics on the forum, but they were in Rob Fast's 17pdr thread.....one and the same?

We had the chance at this trailer..

last summer at auction, but passed it up. No data plates, but we did pull 2 artillery rims off of it...and Tony thought the axle might be from a limber??? Interesting Dave that Peter Ford was that far south into the Sandiland Provincial Forest looking for wrecks. Cheers Rob
