This photo is a portion of a shot showing a 2 CID RCA vehicle marchpast at war's end. Interesting how this 'old' jeep survived the war! Steve |

The Big Picture......

Hi there
Here's the entire shot. Sorry, there is little information available about where or when, but you're right Hanno, it is Holland. There may be more b&W photos available but this in the only Kodachrome available. Steve |
The Big Picture......
For anyone interested, the jeep is from the 14th Field Battery, R.C.A., 4th Field Regiment, R.C.A., 2nd Infantry Division. The J2 on the Battery Quarter is a bit unusual, normally for the Battery Captain's Staff, it would be K2 (in a Field Battery). Maybe the jeep itself is surplus to establishment  - honest Sergeant-Major, it followed me back to camp.........:D

The location is Oldenburg, 15 May 1945 - 2nd Divisional Artillery says goodbye to it's guns. On the reviewing stand is Maj.-Gen. A.B. Matthews, G.O.C. 2nd Division, accompanied by his C.R.A., Brig. F.D. Lace. Also present is Maj.-Gen. R.L. Keefler, G.O.C. 3rd Division. The attached photo is taken from another angle. Found another photo of the same parade, taken fron the same angle has the jeep photo. It again, is identified as taking place at Oldenburg, 15 May, 1945. The only source quoted for the photo is Canadian Army Photo.
