Hi ron. I didn't realise it was that early of serial number. Just out of interest, does any one know approx how many lp1 carriers were made before they changed to lp2's? I'm assuming this carrier is an lp2? I should of had a good look when I was last there Ron :p. Anyway good luck with the sale Ron, I hope it finds a good home.
Regards Nathan

AMEP Volume 2 LP Carriers 1939-1945

Nathan,

158 LP1, 2 experimental/'transitional' model carriers (Hulls 159 and 160) then LP2s.

It's all in my book 'Local Pattern Carriers 1939 to 1945', published in the early 1990s. (AMEP Volume 2)

Copies are available from me. PM me for details. (Yes, this is a blatant promotional posting for my own publication .... if Clive can do it, so can I!)

Salesman Franchises

Hi all you pseudo-salesmen, if you wish to aspire to Salesman Bob status I can provide comprehensive training and franchises.

Well, thanks, Bob, but smooth talking, slick salesmanship has never been something I've aspired to.

I'm just a humble researcher/writer scratching out a living in retirement working for my wife, living in a little house down by the river in Spokane .....

The carriers are progressing slowly lol, more so on 2528 as it won't take as much to finish lol. I will get pictures when I get around to it, if I remember.

"I'm just a humble researcher/writer scratching out a living in retirement working for my wife, living in a little house down by the river in Spokane ....."

Mike, that is the biggest load of codswallop I have heard in a long time. BTW, how are the Clampetts.

Carrier #2528

Hi Nathan - for you interest Carrier 2528 is a 1942 South Australian Railways manufactured Carrier built under Order No. MOS 146. I have added the details to my Carrier database.

Bob, I'm mortified at your dis-belief! The comment I made was true ...

We live by a river.
I work for my wife and don't get much pay
I retired in 2010 - the papers from the AWM say so.
I research and I write.
Oh ... the house. OK: it's not so small by Aust standards I suppose!

Don't know about the Clampetts, but the Vanderbilts next door are just fine.

I only just realised i wrote the wrong serial number above lol should be 2838 not 2528 :bang: Yes you are correct Bob, 2528 is a SAR carrier but is quite literally ony half the carrier it used to be. All the tracks, wheels, diffs and turning componets remain but everything above the tracks is gone. It will be used as a parts donor for 1824 when i eventually get to it. I have been trying to locate all the unit numbers and everything else to go with 2838 but this is no easy task in itself. Restoration of 2838 is progressing slowly :)

Carrier Details

Hi Nathan - I am not sure whether I have passed these details on.

Carrier #2838 is a Ford Carrier built under Order No. MON 708
Carrier #1824 is a Ford Carrier built under Order No. MON 62. Had an ARN of C25649 and motor 1G6478F.

Bob,

You're slipping: you didn't tell him the Commonwealth-registered C25649, hull 1824 was assigned to New Guinea (along with hull 1825, among others).

Slipping??

Hi Mike - no I am not slipping. I draw all my information off my carefully researched data base. The only entries on there are what I have gleaned from manuals, your Military Profile books, word of mouth of the owners and information such as you have supplied. Therefore there are large holes in the database that could be presumed but which I have not verified. It would be good to have the data from which you drew your last piece of information. That would be useful to correlate a lot of information on the database.

Bob
