New Member jeeps etc .

Hello Dale here from Port Macquarie N.S.W Just joined up . I have been watching this forum for a long time . I like most of us started out modeling 1/72 Airfix model tanks and planes when around 8 yrs of age . Then moved onto larger and move expensive toys . Did wooden ship modeling for ten years . Now I'm still building 1/6 scale Armortek tank models . A friend of mine took me for a ride in his jeep four years ago as soon as I climb out the seed was planted. I had to have one so 2011 for my 50 th birthday I was lucky enough to buy a really nice jeep from Doug Fields in Queensland photo below . Then last year I restored a 1943 Bantam trailer photo below ... I'm married to a very understanding wife Marion she does not understand why us men do this hobby but is happy that I get a kick out of it and lets me buy my toys ... My latest buy is a Bren Gun Carrier VIC Rail 2225 which Colin has just started . Dale

Welcome!

Welcome to the Forum.....

Very nice jeep and trailer.

Where will you run your 'Carrier, Machine Gun, LP2A'? From the views, you live near the water ..... and they are definitely not amphibious without HEAPS of preparation!!

fibreglass

Be careful getting your GPW too close to those kayaks and sailboats. You don't want any of their fibreglass to migrate over to your steel, copper, rubber and glass beauty. And, please don't ask me how I know.

Carrier Details

Hi Dale - Carrier #2225 was manufactured by Vic Rail under Contract No. MOV.1125

Bob

The carrier will be at my work . I own a Boating centre and holiday park right on the Hasting river in town . A friend of mine lives just down the road he has this great property as you can see in the photo below , So I'll have to tilt tray it to his place for the day to run her around ..Dale

Thanks Bob any idea of the year she was built ? ..Dale

Bob,

For info, MOV is an ORDER, not a (Defence) contract. MOV: Munitions Order Victoria.

Army issued a CD (contract demand) on the Department of Munitions
who, in turn, issued an order on the chosen supplier, in this case, Vic Rail.

MOS Munitions order South Australia (eg SAR Carriers)
MON Munitions order New South Wales (eg Ford Carriers)

Dale, for info, 2225 did not have a Commonwealth or AIF registration: it was always 2225.

Dale: what is the registration number of the Centurion tank, please? And do you know/can obtain the chassis number/engine number of the M3A1 scout car. I may have some info pertaining to same.

Carrier #2225

Hi all

Mike, once again thank you for pointing out the correct terminology regarding orders and contracts. It certainly clarifies matters and I will now be able to correlate contracts with orders.

Dale, my database does not reflect the building year but that information should be on the Carrier. Colin can find that for you.

To everyone else, it looks like we might have a good holiday destination.

Rob,

White M3A1 Scout Car, Chassis 256257, eng JXD998232 was registered in Australia as 122902, and that was the number that was painted on either side of the bonnet and across the rear.

Disposed of from 2 Base Ordnance Depot, probably in 1954. I have no other info on this particular vehicle.

Are you currently restoring it?

Regards
