All up for grabs including the aeroplanes.

I was told the "Blitz" is cut down from a standard chassis 4x4 and later fitted with a Vangard engine and gearbox. It was purchased from Woodonga post war sans cab and tray.

The trailer according to the owner is a "radar" trailer purchased in some numbers by Lithgow shire to accompany grader drivers on their away trips.

Just curious. Is that a Devon or Dove aircraft?

Mrs Vampire 15-01-13 20:42

Devon

Technically a Devon as RNZAF had no doves.

The owner has over painted the Australian registration so I am unsure exactly which aircraft it is. He claimed it was the very one that was involved in the WA Gold Bullion robbery and there was a huge steel plate in the rear of this A/C where a strong box had been bolted down .

I suspect it is VH CYJ

Gina,
The previous owner to Col, is a member of this forum and it was down in SA then, he may see this and tell you a bit more.
I saw it when I visited last March.

More info on the move from SA to NSW in this 2007 post. At that time, was stated to be in SA for at least past 12-13 years.

Hi all, can anyone tell me if Col is OK as I never would have thought he would ever part with the Devon. I did have the plane for about 13-14 years and that one is NZ1417
Colin.

Mrs Vampire 17-01-13 07:21

Hi Colin

Col is in fine form.

We called in after hearing about the planes . My mate has a place just up the road.

Col greeted us in very friendly form and proceeded to settle us down in the shed and talk about pretty well everything from his diamond mine to dinosaurs.

He is getting rid of stuff on account of having sold most of his property ( I think all) to national Parks. He has tenure for life but they have conditions that preclude the motorbike racing...his caravan park activities and most other noisy or environmental questionable ( in the view of nat parkes) activities.
He calls it his "pre deceased" sale .
He said everything is up for grabs. It is amazing that he got it in exchange for a Stuart.
Glad to nail an exact identity on the Devon.

It's good to hear he's in good health. I had 2 devons, and the other one went to a friend of Col's about an hour from him. That too was swapped for a Stuart as well and the number of that one is 1554 which is on ANZAC STEEL web site under Aust tanks in NG The picture is how we unloaded the plane. It was a bit scary as the branch above was not that big. But all went well.
Colin.
