HUPs in Australia

These are rare in Australia and the owner (who is going to restore it) prefers to remain anonymous, so even if you think you know who it is, please respect his privacy.

He has the remains of two HUP bodies.

I know of only a couple of others in Australia, one in NSW and one in QLD. Any advances on that?

Ken Hughes had a Australian Chev/Holden Personnel 15cwt in a half restored condition, but it had already been spoken for by the time I took these pics. Perhaps it is already running around finished?

It looked like much of the bodywork had been reskinned, only leaving the little fiddly stuff to complete.

Didn't Keith or Mike Kelly post a wartime pic of one of these a while ago?

Ross Prince in QLD sold his HUP to somebody , it was only a chassis with a few bits hanging off it , 99% of the bodywork was missing .

The NSW HUP was originally found on Daly River station in the Northern Territory . I was told it was damaged by grass fires and is only good enough for a pattern .

I took a pic of ken hughes' 6 seater utility C15 in 1979 at his Caloundra museum , it was painted pink and in quite good condition . The pic Tony posted does not look like the same vehicle .

I copied this pic from one of John Belfield's albums in the 1970s, but I don't have any details, and then there was this one...

These were not built to last, being coachbuilt with a timber frame with light panels attached.

Very cute trucks all the same!
Good to think at least one has survived.
