Aussie trailer question
1 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can tell me what type this trailer is? Number 4? I think it would make an excellent model, but I'm stuck for detail. I have searched here, but can't find clear pictures of the rear suspension and brake set-up, does anyone have some? Thanks for any help. Cheers, Allan |

I don't think this is precisely the same trailer (slight structural differences above the rear bogie), but this trailer was at Corowa a couple of years ago. I hope it shows enough detail of the rear bogie and turntable mounting for you.

Thanks very much Tony for those pictures. I had seen your earlier ones, but the shot from the rear is a big help with the fittings. The only thing I'm not sure about now is the "actuating rod" that comes out the back of the vacuum cylinder and goes to the linkage over the back axle. Does it flex with suspension movement, or does it go through a pivot of some kind?
Thanks again for your help. Allan |
I don't know anything about the trailer you're asking about but I do know that was my trailer it was sitting on. :)

Hi Allan,
I have one of those Pontoon trailers that your DMV picture depicts. If you send me your Email address I can send good detail pictures. Regards, Brett. usa42j@hotmail.com |

Thank you all. As you say, Cliff, a different trailer, but it all helps my understanding of the mechanics of vacuum brakes. I get how they are on a single axle trailer, but not a twin axle.
Brett, I would be very glad to see details of your trailer, email on the way. There can't be many of these trailers still in one piece. I've got no idea how many were made, but there sure isn't much available on them. Allan |

One of the better AWM pics of the pontoon trailer.

Thanks Euan. That is one of the few decent pictures of the trailer. Wouldn't you think there were more photos taken at the same time? From the rear with better lighting would be a help! :)
