Pretty sure they are; they were made by Bendix I think.

Hi Col I had a look in the MB-F1 and MB-C1 and the boosters look the same, the only difference I could see was the mounting bracket attached to the chassis.

Brakes are such a mix and match on CMPs

Hi Colin

I'll Start with a question, which truck are you looking for the booster for?

Reason I ask is that the system seem to be such a mix and match of Chevy and Ford parts used on the same trucks.

Now the pictures below are the brake booster that is found on my Pat 12 C60L and Pat 13 C60S.

Bob and I found some NOS units a few years ago at http://vehiclesofvictory.com/ but I think we got the last two, they went cheap because they did even know what they fitted. I just tried to check their parts list and could not see any more listed.

Hope the images help.

Cheers Phil

I haven't compared the Ford and Chev parts lists to see if the numbers for the main unit (without elbows, filters etc.) are the same but can tell you that the C60-X uses a different booster (with linkage mounted external reactionary valve rather than the internal valve used by other Chevs) on the early trucks and an entirely different system on the later ones. The F60-H has another, completely different brake booster system.

Check Dirk in Holland

He use to have 3 different models of CMP brake boosters listed with pictures for sale..... one was identical to the model that Phil and I managed to squirrel away.

Master cylinder and linkages are totally different between Chev and Ford........

On comparable C60 and F60 I do not beleive that they are the same unit based on factory pictures I looked at.......

Looking at the Ford and Chev parts books, each of them has their own numbers for the complete booster and the parts in it and don't show the other maker's number for reference as they do in other places in the parts bookso I'm guessing the complete assembly has some kind of difference between the two makes. That said, quite a few of the internal parts show the same number in the "proprietary or manufacturer's mnumber" column at the right of the page so there are definite similarities. If they are dimensionally same/similar and the maintenance books give the same maintenance procedure that might suggest ttat they could be exchanged even if they weren't originally considered the same unit. More study is needed.

Well...

Both Ford and Chevy ones I have seen are the same. Just that the set up stuff is different...

Chevy have a breather attatched to the Booster itself whilst Ford have the breather set up remotely.

The design is by Bendix and the booster I had rebuilt has written on it...

If anyone needs the bellows boot

Hi All

If you are working on one of these and need to replace the bellows boot, visit your local automotive/off road supplier and look at their shock absorber covers it is a very good match and can be cut to length.

Cheers Phil
