RIGHT OR LEFT question?
 

And old question:
On C15A split rims there are two set of wheel nut.
Are the one holding the rim togetther left or right or normal?
What will happened if a wheel is installed on the wrong side or is that possible?

My experience is that it is only the studs used to secure the wheel to the hub that are left hand on the left and right on the right. All studs I have met that hold the wheel halves together have been right hand (or normal) threading.

Believe Grant is correct on direction,to be sure I'd have to go out to the shop and try one on each side.

The bigger problem is the HUB NUT the one on the left side is normal thread "righty tighty lefty loosey" which means it will try and sometimes be successful in loosening itself.

I now paint mark the hub nuts so I can tell at a glance if they have moved, buy removing the hub cover.

Yes, there are only RH studs for the rims to join together.

Just to add some confusion, I believe the hubs on the guns were opposite that of the vehicles (rh on left side and lh on right side) to accommodate the fact that the guns are towed backwards. Not that it makes a great deal of difference, as all those elongated holes on rims that I've dealt with over the years will testify.

Edited to add: I just confirmed this in my 105mm howitzer manual where it indicates that the left thread studs go on the right side. I can see no reason why they would not do this with a 25 pdr and other guns as well.
