Enfield grenade cup
Hi
Can anyone help with dimensions of the Enfield grenade cup which fitted on the SMLE? They are as rare as hens teeth over here and I wanted to make one up for my reinforced SMLE. Many thanks James |
Is this what your looking for?????

Hi Robert,
That's the one! |
email
Hi James: I can draft the cup out on paper with the measurements. Probably the best way to get it to you is to scan the drawing and email it to you. My email address is rob.mor@shaw.ca. Send me a quick email and I'll follow up from there. Cheers....Robert :)

Hi,
Here's a link to some for sale here in the U.S. https://www.libertytreecollectors.co...&idcategory=64 Thanks, David |
Great Deal...
Hi David: Thanks for the insight. At that price, it wouldn't be worth it to try and make one. The only catch would be if they are able to ship internationally and whether there are any laws on either side of the pond for prohibiting the sale/shipping of these. I think James can do his homework by contacting them and checking out the UK laws. I will send James the back up plans and photos, just in case. Balls in your court James.....Robert

Hi David, Robert,
Over here as far as I have been told they are classified as a category 1 firearm and so cannot be held be a mere mortal like myself. There even seems to be some problem having them deactivated, even if you could get hold of one. Personally I dont see the difference between one of these and a 4 inch smoke discharger but the authorities do. James |
Back to square 1.....
Well James, looks like you're back to square 1. I've sent over the plans and photos, but if you need any other measurements or photos let me know. Good luck. Robert

slightly OT - next vintage rifle match
That picture reminded me that I saw a company in Florida (where else?) that make golf-ball diameter muzzle cups. Fire a blank and launch a golf ball. If I get things coordinated, I may suggest a new fun challenge at my rifle club's vintage rifle match. Best ball in the circle at 200 yds for a $1 per shot.

Grenade Discharger Cup
:no4:Do they make one for the No.4Mk1?

Can't comment...
Hi Keyan: Can't comment for sure. All I know is the unit pictured above dosen't fit a MK 4. I'll leave your question up to the experts on the forum. Cheers...Robert

I've seen some home made ones done up to fit the No4 mk1 rifles. A standard spike bayonet was cut down. It acted as the weapon mount. The cup was made from a piece of cut down exhaust pipe available from an automotive store. The ones I've seen were an adaptor piece. The larger end would just fit a tennis ball. Just below the depth of the ball a bolt was placed with a washer welded on. This was needed to diffuse the blast from the blank. In all it looked decent and could launch a tennis ball about 60 yards or so depending on wind.
