Or a modern replacement part...Any ideas?

Parts....

Hi Jason

On the tie rods...... I have been watching EBay for years and never seen anything that is even similar and found no other dealer source..... maybe Dirk might have some.... the only sav ing grace is that they can be taken apart and you can salvage parts to make a good one...

On the brake shoes...... remember they are Ford.... I found it cheaper to have the shoes relined locally...full set about $100 and you may want the drum turned lightly just to clean them up....

ON the flex hose.... if you have a old ones some of the better (older) local parts men can look them up .... I foudn mine at Car Quest...picture attached.

On the radiator spout for the cab 11/12 the my only one spare is on a radiator that is too good to be taken apart..... I would not trust the existing core in the one I have but the top and bottom tank with drain plug and snout are worth too much just to pull off parts from it.

The instrument panel glass and the vinyl decals are best availalbe from Chev of the Forties.....

Gord Yeo redid his cluster with their parts and it looks very good.

Last good used cluster on EBay went fo $113 USA $$$

Brake line information sources

Hi Jason

One of your parts number/source question concerned brake lines. Well it took me awhile to find my notes.

http://canadianmilitarypattern.com/R...%20-%20(5).jpg

Well if the lines you are looking for are K,G, and O in the picture above or the rear hose. They are standard Weatherhead/Eaton hoses the part number is WH 81430?? with the ?? marks being the length in inches. For the HUP I used WH 8143017.

Now here are some other useful online resources:

Weatherhead/Eaton Master Brass Fitting Catalog http://hydraulics.eaton.com/products...I-MC001-E3.pdf

Weatherhead/Eaton Master Hose Catalog http://hydraulics.eaton.com/products..._Section_A.pdf this one is more technical and not as useful as I'd like but did figure out what I needed for the big flex oil lines.

Cheers Phil

Please compare with my thread F15A brake lines; I think you will find Chevs and Fords used the same parts.

Hanno

Hi Hanno

You are correct, at least in my experience, because all three of my Chevy CMPs have Ford front brakes, and the two C60 have Ford rear brakes.

It drove me crazy when I first was looking for parts because the brake parts are made by Ford.

Jason take note, along with anybody else looking for brake parts, if you are working on a Chevy look under Ford. This is one of the reasons that Mac's is a good resource to look up stuff in their catalog to identify parts.

Cheers Phil

Phil, Hanno, Thanks..I guess i am getting a bit confused... Pretty near froze out there today or so it felt, I was pulling and rear drum that i would say has never been apart, fought me all the way. I ended up working for 15 mins or so then run back in and get the hands warmed up just to do it all again...I hate winter.
This site that you speak of Macs, Is this mack truck parts?

Grant Bowker 30-01-12 02:19

See: http://macsautoparts.com/
They are sellers of Ford parts of the right era for CMPs.

Who else has a good early Ford Parts Web Site

Hi Jason

Sorry should have included the link, and thanks Grant for correcting that over site.

Recently I was looking at Ford 40s parts web site and a really good one came up out of Australia I think. Does anybody have the URL for it?

Reason I mention this other site is that it used the original FORD parts book pages which I found interesting in trying to match part numbers.

I just finished a complete software reinstall, hard drive reformat and have not restored my web bookmarks yet. Yes, I did back all my files up to different external hard drives.

And yes Jason working out doors or in an unheated shop in the winter takes dedication. But at-least there are no mosquitoes or black flies.

Cheers Phil

The main part of the shop is heated but I through up a new piece just to get the CMP in just befor winter..all I have to say is thank god for dark rum....lol

Plus of course our very own Modern part numbers for CMPs thread!

Jason, please look up the numbers for those Raybestos brake lines and go order them over the counter of your FLAPS, should not be too difficult in Northern America.

HTH,
Hanno
