New Dutch Carrier owner

Hi all,
Here are some pictures of the Carrier acquired by Siemon in The Netherlands. He's looking for information to restore it. Writing in English is not his stong point, so I'm posting for him. He can read and speak English though, so please help him out in his quest for Carrier parts and information. Regards, Hanno |
There are plenty schematics about for armour now, that is pretty much the most ideal way to get a lower tub....with the centre bulkhead in situ...and air ducts too....i am very jealous ! welcome to the carrier family Siemon ! it is a terminal disease you cant escape its clutches once you have one..

Excellent MKII armour, complete with the welded side supports on the front aperture. The mantle is a wee challenge for the MKII. Hanno, what is the lower and upper hull serial number range? Is it a MKII or MKII* ?
Nice work! Is the armour on the shop floor, (circled in red) originally from the same hull or another MKII/MKII*? M. |
Ah you beat me to it! I also noticed the side pieces for the loophole. like mine!

Was going to offer my services for rivet snaps but looks like you have done the job (or gone coach bolts)
Looking good ! |
Guys,
I'm only the messenger, posting a few pics of Siemon's work on here. He is a member and can read English but writing is more difficult. Hanno |
Yes, nice work. I like the spring compressor, a better one is on my to do list......I'm sure I can get some ideas from that.

I went to visit Siemon last Saturday. He's making very good progress on the Carrier. There's a more complete one nearby from which he copies many parts, striving to manufacture them as original as possible.
Here are some pictures he wants to share with MLU: 1) After sandblasting, the upper armour was measured up and fitted: |
Nice job  I am very glad we have welded carrier :D

Siemon is doing a great restoration on this Carrier. He has an old stock overhauled engine waiting to be dropped in. I think he will be driving around in it somewhere next year. Hanno |
Nice and great job is gone from Siemon!!! :note: :note:
|
Looking great... What are they lathing ? Surely not turning down the rivets ? Interesting to see them set on the inside rather than the outside, did they have many issues with rivets shearing (smooshing / setting off centre) I would imagine it would be difficult to get the head set square given the track guard being in the way.
Can Siemon get us some close ups of both sides of the finished rivets ? Your project is going to be complete in no time at all ! When your done you can pop over the pond and finish mine too :) |
Excellent craftsmanship!
That's what I like to see and is the difference between a professional restoration and an amateur one. All too many restorations have little attention to detail and are more of a representation or preservation than actually restored to factory quality. Keep up the fantastic work! :salute: |
Very nice work. I love the metal working skills!

Siemon is in need of drawings and dimensions for the rear mudguards - see picture. Who can help?
Also needed are dimensions for the rear light housing without towing attachment. Please post your input here for all to enjoy and use. Thanks! Hanno |

Thanks Hanno for posting for Seimon, and thanks Siemon for making the video. You have done a lot of admirable work on this carrier.
