Diamond T & Ward La-France in the Swiss Army
5 Attachment(s)
After the war the Swiss Army acquired quite a bunch of Ward La-France and Diamond T Wreckers. These were used for tank recovery and on airfields.
Unfortunately, all these wreckers had the same manufacturing year stated on their "Swiss" building plate. Here are some wreckers I know of: Ward LaFrance (2nd number is the chassis number) 1943, 535364, M1A1 Model 1000 Series 5 1943, 422090, M1 Model 1000 Series 2 1943, 545315, M1A1 Model 1000 Series 5 1943, 434370, M1 Model 1000 Series 4 Kenworth 1943, 52287, Model 570 (1941) Diamond T969 1943, 969B0005 1943, 969A0988 Does anybody know how/where I can source these actual building dates (month/year)? Attached are some pics. Thanks very much Chris |

another source of info
Hi Chris, you probably already know of this site. Maybe ask over there, as it is more US orientated.
AFV news forum: http://www.com-central.net/index.php...viewforum&f=73 |
... thank you, Ryan. No haven't known that one before. I will try it!
Greetings Chris |
solved
... I got a hint at the HMVF-Forum to look in the Wheelsandtracks Magazine No 3. I found there all the specific information I was looking for the Kenworths and Ward La-Frances.

Steve Greenburg in Oregon still has a mint Diamond T and would be one of the better ones to talk to. David Doyle is one of the better MV experts, and has reserched most trucks 14 ways from Sunday.
Steve occasionally posts on this site, but more often is on Steelsoldiers.com. David Doyle rarely posts on any site, but can be tracked down if you're not in a hurry. He was on ss the other day, but that was rare. |
