Humber Heavy utliity Steering wheel wanted
hi there. Have just started a restoration of a very sick and poorly Humber Heavy Utility, and one of the first things I can see I need is a steering wheel. That will help me move it around for a start. If you have anything that looks worthwhile, I could be interested. thx

Andrew.. would they be the same as say a Snipe or another Humber car ? i dont have one but i am thinking along the lines of classic cars rather than the MV fraternity if they carried the same style wheel into MV production then into civvy production post war you may have a better chance of locating one.. and at a decent price too

hi chaps. it may well be a common problem, they are a large bacolite wheel from memory. I dont know Richard whether its the same a a prewar car. I will have to do some digging. Let me see whether I can get a photo as someone may have one but not know what its for!

That pic shows it with a clamp bolt, so if it has fine splines on the shaft and wheel is able to be adjusted up and down, then it is similar to a Snipe, except the car has control switches in the hub and a bit more ornate design, this should widen your search area a bit ! |

yes that was a shame, but just not quick enough. One will turn up though, these things usually do! thanks Richard, I can widen the net a bit, I imagine the controls on the snipe only affect the centre boss, and could be exchanged to be accurate for the Box.

Spokes are flat and hub centre has the semaphore control and main/dip beam switch in it. Anything to fit is better than nothing until another turns up! |
