Well, the first and second are both Studebaker US-6's. Can't tell on the third.
Funny place to see a Studebaker though. I know they were used on the Alcan Alaska Highway.
regards Rick

Hans Mulder 04-05-11 20:14

Which lake is that Jeff?

David Hardway 04-05-11 20:35

Third pic looks like a fifties GMC

The third one is the M135/M211 series. Interesting to see two trucks from different periods abandonned together. I'm not sure when the Studebaker might have been surplusssed but Canada kept their M135s until the 80s.

Rob MacDonald 09-05-11 22:31

There's an old logging camp at the north end of Indian Arm with at least 3 cab 13's lined up.

I saw them as I was 'just passing through' back in the early 80's - the Navy had dropped us off at the head of the inlet and we tabbed north for 3 days, emerging from the bush a little past Squamish.

I'm pretty sure that the logging road is still nominally passable, so we should plan a bush-bashing road trip, Jeff!

There were e several camps up stave lake that used old Military equipment up into the 1970s. A friend of Mine worked in a camp were the transport or Crummy was a White half track. also they used the Tank transporters to haul loads of Wood out of the Bush.and also Hi Speed gun tractors as portable spar Trees.one is still sitting on the shore there.

Rob we can go up Indian arm closer to the summer to explore a friend of mine has a boat and loves to explore.
Jeff

Any carrier armour up there?

Alex van de Wetering 11-05-11 22:24

Interesting picture Jeff; looks like a rare M6 Hight Speed tractor chassis.

Alex

jeff davis 12-05-11 00:54

Yes it is .The M6 does not seem to be that rare around B.C due to the amount of Logging in the Area.
If there was Carrier Armour I would have pulled it out years ago.

Is this what one would call a logging truck? Well it involves a log and a truck!

Phil...

lynx42 12-05-11 09:44

Ouch!!

Glad I wasn't sitting in the drivers seat.

Phil Waterman 12-05-11 14:25

But I can see the ad for it.

Seeing the truck with the tree across the cab, the thing that jumped in to my mind was how it would be listed in car finder or any of the for sale listing.

Ran when parked.

Cheers Phil (north)

Maybe ...

Wood inlaid dashboard

Harry Moon 12-05-11 18:50

C60x

I don't have a picture but that big storm we had a few years back crushed the cab of a very nice restorable C60X when a tree crushed the cab. A big healthy tree! Personally i prefer to cut them down before they fall down.

The river gets pretty 'thin' once the snow's off the mountains, but sure, that'd be a hoot! Count me in....

The trailer under the boat looks like a modified 20 cwt trailer and I need a spare wheel!

Hans Mulder 30-11-11 18:03

I'll reveal the locations of the goodies...for a fee!

Thomas L. 30-11-11 23:37
