Just edited and uploaded some of the material I shot from the Temora Aviation Museum's Lockheed Hudson of their Mk VIII Spitfire and the RAAF Museum's Mustang.

These are great - hit the full screen button
Hi Keith
Great videos, Robs compliment about the size of these is something to comment on. For those of us with hi speed connections you really need to hit screen button. The resolution on these really lets you enjoy the full screen viewing. Unlike so many Youtube videos which fall apart on full screen this one really jumps out. Cheers Phil |
... wonderful shots, Keith. I just added your video in my blog.
Greetings Chris |
Jolly good show..
Simply a thrill to watch Keith. The montage of the Hudson was a treat for me as well.

What was the camera platform?
Hi Keith
Just from bits you see in the video I would guess a Hudson. Identifying points two engine twin tail, position of the gun turret, shape of the cockpit. Then I took a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xitArQPMvTA and spent the rest of the morning watching links. Unfortunately not all of them are the resolution. Cheers Phil |
Excellent footage!
You must hate waking up each morning and having to go to work . . . :rolleyes H. |
Camera platform
You guessed correctly Phil, it is a Lockheed Hudson, currently the only one flying in the world. It's powered by a pair of Wright Cyclones.
The video clip was made from two flights, interestingly the pilots swapped between the Spitfire and Hudson, something unlikely to have happened during the war. They are both members of the Harvard aerobatic team "Southern Knights" and are superb formation flyers. One of the nice things about these flights was the fact they were transit flights, not photographic which meant there was the luxury of time available to experiment. I wasn't able to speak to them, but we have a pre-arranged system of hand signals for positioning. And yes, Hanno, sometimes my job does create some interesting situations! |
