You picked a good one..It had a few extras on it and it seemed to turn pretty easily for sitting around all those years..I take it that is your in the vid..??
Great job you did with it..Just out of curiosity,what is your job and training in ../?You seem to be a hell of a good wrench...
One of my good friends and MLU member is a retired lawyer..
The restoration work he does is unbelievable ..And he does it all himself...
He may farm out the rebuilding of the engines,but could do it himself with out a doubt..But he does all his own metal fab..welding ..machining..painting ..you name it..He is watch maker..gunsmith..and Has 600 acres to play with his toys on ..He has a 3"mortar carrier that is immaculate that he has restored from the ground up ..civilian trucks and cars and a couple of Jeeps and a 6 bay garage to keep and store them in and then he has his work shop and machine shop and more storage for vehicles and equipment..
When I asked him about his start in the restoration and interest in old military vehicles he told me his story that his father and mom really wanted him to get a good education(His father was a Doctor) and he was well educated and became a lawyer and practiced all his life so he could make enough money to raise his family and indulge himself with his first love..greasy old cars and trucks so he trained himself to do his own repairs..
But he is one of the nicest and smartest guys you would ever want to meet..and honest..Being a lawyer didn't ruin him..he had his greasy old trucks and cars to keep him grounded..He is still an active member in the MLU community and many of us that will read this will know whom I speak..
Hope to see him again this summer in our travels.
So just unusual to mix lawyer with Rusty Old Trucks..

Alex; I do a little bit of all kinds of trades, but mostly an electrician. Iv'e been in electronics repair (a field that no longer exists) since 1982. Was trained as a teletype tech (all mechanical) by the Marines. Allways have been fascinated by old equipment; the more small parts the better. Jesse.

And no there are not any left. I was there this past week on my way to Camp Lejeune.

Interesting place though, for sure!!! But not very much WWII stuff left in any decent condition. Only some Serious project vehicles!

Thanks for that Jesse..I thought you may have had some trades training somewhere along the line..I am a Refrigeration Mechanic and Gas fitter//trained out of high school in the early '60's...by the Canadian Air force..but have been around old cars as long as I can remember..
Doing my own repairs of all kinds ..I started as a pilot..had a high frequency hearing problem..transferred to electronics school .finished my basic and was heading for Ground radar school and they closed up the mid Canada long range radar stations..about 20 of them so we had an abundance of radar techs..so they retrained me as a refrigeration mechanic..all before I was 20 years old..but the training never stopped..I was on an advanced gas fitters course three years ago..
So like you can weld..do my own electrical ..machining..steel and sheet metal work..along with any other kind of mischief I can get into..including house renovations and repair..roofing and cement work..
Just what you pick up out of interest or necessity..so admire nice work like you are doing ..Keep up the pictures and videos..
I'm leaving for Indianapolis on Friday but too cold to stop in ..But I would love to see your machine..
But for now,will keep current by MLU..

I don't know for sure. I think 8-10 years ago. Jesse.

I would say Jesse is pretty close on the time the video was shot. I was down 8 years ago and that looks the way the last 14 Sextons were sitting when my son and I were there. The machine I picked out would be second from the end on the outside row.
