Jerry Cans
If anyone is in need of a Jerry can, let me know as I have two extras that I will sell or trade, cheap!
|
Is it steel or plastic? If steel the important question is what is imprinted on the base of the can?
|
Both are steel, and are of US manufacture. One has "DOT 5L USMC" stamped on the bottom, and a "G" (which I assume means gasoline) above the "X" on the sides. The other doesn't have anything stamped on the bottom, but has "US" stamped on the sides beneath the "X". That one also has a big white "W" painted on both sides (water?).

I remember the steel water jerry cans had a wider mouth than the fuel jerry cans. The lid flipped over and locked down versus screw-in. Finally, the interior was painted or coated white not bare steel.
I asked because some rivet counters might be looking for specific dates or date ranges for their true-to-period restorations. |
do you have pictures please, and how much? thank you

As for how much, make me an offer - I am not in this to make a profit. A small sum plus the cost of shipping is good enough for me. My truck is a 1967 M38A1CDN2, so I am always open to parts trades as well. Mike |
