Cdn Sherman Help Needed

I have aquired a 1/6th scale Sherman tank kit and would like to know what Canadian Tank Units would have used this version. Here are a couple pics of the version I have. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.... Thank you in advance.... Harold

The most famous unknown Canadian Sherman is the Sherbrooke Fusilier Regiment's Bomb. She landed on DDay and survived as a runner until VEDay. If you do some searching there are a number of photos posted on line of Bomb. At a glance I think you have the right mark, but Bomb has applique armour on the sides, and there are little horns on each side of the barrel where it emerges from the mantlet. A man with some sheet styrene should be able to fix that oversight.

Didn't the Sherbrooke's finally get credit for getting Wittman? I remember seeing not too long ago a program on the History channel where they showed it was a Sherbooke tank that knocked out Wittam's Tiger
Yes alot of work will have to be done on this kit, the mantlet being one of them. Thank you Terry for the tip and will check it out.....Harold

Sherbrooke Fusilier Regiment

There are two TV shows on The War Channel (aka The History Channel) that popularize the SFR. You mentioned the battlefield detective .... Christie and his retelling of the death of Wittman's tanks. Just recently the unremarkable series, Tank Battles, has an hour of DDay tank battles built around the narrative of the SFR between the landings and Caen.

Trooper Phil Lawrence talks about killing Panthers in a troop shoot where his gunner fell asleep, and coming nose-to-nose with a Tiger with a hedge between them. After hammering about 6 AP rounds into its mantlet, the Tiger fired one shot that cut the turret roof, the driver jammed it in reverse and at max revs the Sherman backed out of trouble. Rad' talks about smoking a little patch of ground and then killing each tank that emerged from the smudge. He is acknowledged as Canada's top tank ace with 18 kills.

Your 1/6th tank must be a lot of fun. Tell us more ...

Unfortunately, that model is of an M4A3(75)W, not a version used at all by the Commonwealth.
