Dodge question

I have some CV joints (NOS) marked Dodge and part number 915114 on little metal tags.

Can someone with a Dodge parts book please confirm what they fit? There are two types, the rzeppa sort like a Ford CMP and the 5 ball like the Chev.

It is half ton Dodge.

Half ton Dodge

Thanks very much for the answer Lynn. I found it curious there were two different types of CV joint. How does the Weapons Carrier differ? Is it heavier?

At any rate I have some available if anyone is interested, they are new and wrapped well. Shoot me a PM.

They are all the same from the wc20 to the wc40.(last of the half tonners) At least I think all the previous half tonners were the same. As you say, there were two types. I understand the front axle was not a very strong one.

from memory only ....

The VC and half ton WC used both types of joints on all the 4 x 4 body types. The VC front axle housing was weak, but the WC half ton one was notably stronger. The 1.5 ton VF 4 x 4 used both types of joint too, but larger, of course.

One type of joint was marginally stronger than the other, but considerably more difficult / expensive to manufacture, so they standardised on the simpler / cheaper type some time during WC half ton production.

Driveshafts of either type will interchange as complete units.

I don't have any of my books here, so I can't say which type was standardised and exactly what your joint would have been original equipment on, but I can look it up some time if no-one else can tell you.

Another Dodge bit

Part number 912197-1. Packed in a very cleverly designed box, and well wrapped in tropic proofing, the shape suggests the top of a carburettor.

Master Parts List to hand ...

915114 front right Universal Drive, bendix, T207, T211, and T215 - half ton Dodge WC, as said previously. Note that this is the front right only, left is 915115, and Bendix rather than Rzeppa. The differential-to-joint part of it should be identical to the T202 VC as well, as the outer section was specific to the WC half ton - longer by an inch or so.

912197 not in the listing, with or without -1 suffix. Part number above it is t214 bump stop, part number below it is T202 wheel bearing.
