Ford CMP bracket identification?

2 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me what the following brackets on my Ford 3 ton CMP are for?The first one is above the windshield frame on the drivers side.
http://www.alfrules.com/derk/IMG_7199.jpg
The second are a pair of brackets behind the passenger seat along the back panel and cab next to the curtain bag hangers.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Derk.

The one over the windscreen is the mount for the sun shade arm.

Sun Shade

Hi Keith,
Thanks for the identification. Now my next question I am sure you knew would be asked, does anybody have a picture of one and were they common? I have just looked through my Ford parts book and could not find a reference or picture of the sun screen. Thanks for the help.

Hi Derk

Here are some pics of an original sun shade thing I took at Max's place last year. The last pic is from a recovered cab. I think those sun shade attachments are an Aussie modification. :kangaroo

Greetings
Chris

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the response.I know Doug Weatherston has been trying to find out information on the first aid kit for the CMP but has had no luck tracking one down.He only has a picture of the kit list for the trucks with the first aid kit pictured in it.I was wondering where they would have stored the kit,but if you say the brackets are for the bag, that would explain where it was stored.I would think hooks on each side of the bag to attach it to the brackets or a bar running through the top of a canvas bag?Maybe somebody else has information they can add?A mystery yet to solve!

Hi Chris,
That is the first sun shade I have seen for a CMP.Out of all the one's here in Canada,I have not seen one, even on wrecks there is not a hint of anything ever mounted there.Does any other CMP scrounger out there know of a sun shade mounted on any trucks they have come across?Interesting!

Thanks all for the help!
Derk.

Here is a picture of the original sunvisor in my C15A during the tear down before painting, it is made of masonite.

The sun visor was an Australian modification. The Australians also made the windscreens open to 90 degrees which was later adopted in Canada.

the photos Chris posted are from a ford blitz and the one Robert postrd is from a chev made in Australia. Early built aussie 13 cab chevs have no sign of the bracket for the sun shade

Gents,
I believe this is the First Aid Pouch you are refering to and I have only ever seen two. These two pouchs both are in different states. NO dates, markings or other good info. I have not seen the contents of the kit itself. I am not a truck "guy" but when I see something that could be military I grab it for trade on MKII Carrier items..... Anyone???
Cheers,
Bruce

First Aid Bag/Tin

Bruce,
I think you are right as I just checked this 'kit' layout picture and around the top left hand corner you can see this very same bag as well as a tin straight under it with the words First Aid on it. Any chance of a few more pictures with the ruler layed out?

derk derin 21-03-10 06:28

That's it!

Bruce,
Thanks for posting the pictures.I have been researching for that pouch and stayed up until the wee hours of the morning looking on the internet and finally found the kit layout picture Ausmick has posted.I have been in contact with the guy that hosted the picture on his website and asking for better pictures so I can make a copy of one but your pictures are an excellent quality to make a reproduction from unless I can find carrier items Bruce would be interested in.I will dig through the shed tomorrow and see what I can come up with!
Derk.
