data plate stamping?
Hi All,
I am now online from home and will begin to pick your brains for information! I traded my Chevy gun tractor data plates for a set of data plates for my Ford 3 ton long ambulance. The plates are blank in some areas so I can fill in my own info that will match the trucks proper data. The blank spots I have to fill in are the chassis, cab, engine serial and built areas on the first plate and the vehicle code on the second plate. The problem with Ford data plates are that they were stamped from the bottom up for a raised stamping. The chassis serial number and the build code are already stamped in the plate so it would look mismatched if I just stamped in my info with a regular downward stamping of the data.Do any of you know somebody or some company that I could have the info stamped in for me from the bottom up like the original way? I still have to buy a digital camera and will then start posting pictures! Regards, Derk. |

No mismatch, that's how they were done. On a whole range of Ford vehicles, of different dates and contracts, that seems to be the method used. The only exceptions would be for vehicles wholly assembled and driven out the gates of the factory.

This Carrier was built and assembled within the factory, so the plate was stamped completely within the factory:

stamping
Hi Tony,
Wow,thanks for posting the pictures. That is the info I was looking for. That makes it a whole lot easier for me to complete my data plates and I can do it from home.Once I gather the proper information I will enter them in. A question I now need to find is what would be the proper vehicle code I stamp into the data plate if it is for an ambulance? The truck is a Ford 60 cwt long cab 13 with the cmp ambulance box that has 4 stretcher racks. I know there are different body styles with different codes to go by. Derk. |
Data plate
If you are stamping words Like "motor " ect, you would have to have stamps that are backward .to stamp them from the back side .Wright a word on thin paper ,turn it over and you will see what I mean .I need the Ford plate for a carrier and havn't found anyone to do it sofar Does anyone know if some one has these stamps or can do this stamping .George

Carrier data plates.
Hi George,
I am also looking for a data plate for my MK 1 carrier and I also need one for my Ford MCP dump truck but I didn't want to get greedy for data plates all at once! I now have my CMP data plates that I need to register the truck and the rest are merely to complete the restoration as I do not need the plate on my carrier to register it for the road and I already have the dump truck serial number on the frame.
