F 60 Frame
2 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to find some info/photos of what we suspect is an F 60. The wheelbase has been shortened and the frame chopped but looking at it closer, it looks good enough to save and return to it's proper wheelbase. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to the best way to do this? Could the rear portion of some other WB CMP be grafted on or would it have to be another 60 CWT?
I also noticed a bracket inside the cab behind the passenger that I'd like to ID, any ideas as to what it's for? J.P. Also from the home of the Ford CMP. |
I think you would be better off just replacing the chassis with a good 'whole' one. Place it along side your one and transfer the parts straight over.

Hi,
The bracket is for the round hatch cover that what they told me on this forum :teach: and i think is a F60A and not a F60 it a 4X4  |
While replacing the frame is an option
Repair and extension of the frame is a very practical solution, if the original shortening was not a butcher job. I say this if a good replacement frame is not readily available.
Can you provide a couple of photos of where the frame was shortened? Not having a replacement frame for my C60L I ended up doing extensive repairs including complete replacement of the inner layer of the frame. If your frame was shortened to the rear of the inner frame than a very strong repair can be done. I'll take or dig out the photos of how this can be easily done. Most heavy steel fabricators and bend up the 1/4in frame sections you will need. As to the bracket, on my HUP this was fitted with a spring that provided tension on the draw strap for the canvas hatch cover. Cheers Phil |
