Smaller Shocks

Max has a mate with an F15 that we took some photos of yesterday & we noticed something curious...

Were these the type of shock absorber used on early cab 12's or Cab 11's? & were they fitted to 15 hundred weight only??

HH has the heavier type/later type shock absorber on his cab 12 & he also has the towing 'Rings' so I wonder wether the great/late Alan Alfred Holgate has replaced the type in photo with the later type at some stage or wether they simply used up the old ones at the ford plant and started fitting the later type from sometime onwards.

Hmmm

I don't know the answer to the question, Tony, but thank tou in advance for bringing back the tow rings, bumper & over-riders...
What?
What do you mean you didn't get them???

Early

:teach:Tony these are features of the early model Fords. The bumper brackets with towing eyes were a left-over from before the 'D's were used on bumpers.

Keith, just to clarify ( I seem to use this word a lot)

Does that also go for the shocks as well as the towing eyes? Are the shocks simply an older type that were replaced by a newer & better design. Or were they a lighter type for F15 - F8 trucks???

They only appear on the very early CMPs and I think they were the standard across the range before the ones we commonly see now. From memory Dirk's F60H cab 11 has the same type.

Thanks Keith for the info, I'm sure Howard will be pleased as will Max.
