Ford V8 Bearings

Good Evening Everyone.

Well it's evening here anyway.

My question is about a source of main bearing's and conrod bearing's for ford V8's to suit either a Blitz or Bren carrier engine.

We are after a set of 30" mains and 40" conrod bearings. Also a gasket kit, and probably a set of rings, these have not been measured yet.

Has any one got a source in Australia, or do we have to look further a field.

YIKES! That is some serious wear on the rod journals, and even the mains. As you know, the bearings are "Full floating" and wear on the inside AND outside of the bearing shell. If you need 40 thou on the rod journals, I would suggest that the inner bearing surface of the conrods are also pretty worn. Original bearings were available in a 4 thou and 8 thou oversize outer dimension with the usual U/S inner dimensions. I will have a scratch around and see what size NOS bearings I have.

Alternatively, I have a Crank here that will only need 10thou mains and 10thou rods? I may even have some 8BA conrods that have the regular insert bearings.

Try Ross Prince in Queensland. I think he has some large undersize bearings for the V8. Phone 07 41244075.

G'day Lendlease,

I see by your location details that we are practically neighbours as I am in Bundaberg. I guess you might have a lendlease cab vehicle?

The original owner of my 1940 Chevy lives in Hervey Bay and I was hoping to see him soon as he is getting on a bit in years. I would like to capture some of his memories of the truck. His Father-in-law owned the truck before him too so there could be some stories attached.

Also good to know that there are parts available here in Queensland

Kind Regards
Lionel

Hi Guys

A gentleman by the Name of Mike Davidson in South Australia imports nearly every thing for the old V8's.

I will ask Ross as well though, as I am talking to him about some Dodge parts

Tim
