New Blitz owner in Canada ..........
1 Attachment(s)
Hello all here on MLU
Well I supose now that the Blitz is home its time to show her off and introduce myself to you all, My name is Terry Baumann I live in BC, Canada, some of you have heard of me and we have swapped a few Emails back and forth from all sides of the pond and down under my 3 year search for a Blitz has finally paid off, Im the proud new owner of I believe a 42ish F15A and am having trouble removing the smile from my face :thup2: Well at any rate, Id like to thank all of you wo have helped me with my silly newby questions and the help I so needed, I hope to get it all safe and runable and from there I will decide what it all needs as far as a restoration, so far it looks like its not bad as is. The truck looks in great condition so should be a not bad project vehicle considering she is a 67 year ole Veteran of some military action somewhere around the globe or heck maybe never left Canada ?, at any rate Im real happy she is mine ........ and will see to it that it is preserved. Well I hope you all enjoy the picture of her and I look forward to many happy days with it and you all here on MLU. :note: |

Welcome to the fun
Hi Terry
Always glad to hear that CMPs have yet another supporter out there and that some one else has caught the bug. I've been playing with these strange trucks for 30 years now and I still am enjoying them. Cheers Phil |

Im sure it will be a fun trip down memory lane, heck this thing is way older than I am and I believe this is one of the reasons it facinates me so much. l hope you all enjoy the pic, Ill post some more soon .

F15a
Terry that is a rather odd cargo box, looks like the type of heavy duty box used in the drilling and foresty work ? or is it home made ?

Terry is the cargo box original ? Or is this off something else >?
This looks like an F60 series truck, are those 20 " tires and rims ? The rear bumpers look odd also ? Quote:

About your canadian truck
1 Attachment(s)
Hello
I have seen the wheels with tires which dimension seems to be 1050 X 16 So I think that your truck is a FORD CANADA F22. These trucks , builded at the end of the war , were intended to be used as artillery tractor. They used some parts of FORD CANADA F60L. The radiator should be oversized and a little portion of sphere was often over the hood. I join a pic of F22 seen in NORMANDY il 1994 with a 1C2 body. regards Serge |

Morning all
:coffee Well from what I can gather the truck is a F15A with F60 20" wheels and 9:00x20 tires, the box is off a CDN M135 and has been cut down by 4' in the middle and welded back together, I think it really plays the part and was really well done, the rear bumperetts are also M135 but again for now kinda look the part. I am also looking for a few spare 20" wheels like these If anyone close to me or in Canada has any Id like to hear from you as I will need a spare or two. Gordons Id love to see some pics of your trucks also pls PM Me or post it here for all to see. I wish all the plates were still on the truck but seems someone else needed them worse than me :fry: Glad you are all enjoying it, I welcome any help or pics to make this easier especially from Ford owners especially if there is any other places to look for stamped # etc to identify its year etc better. have fun ! |

Do any of these pics help ?, If not I can take more today, found these from a while back. |

a) upgraded with F60L components sometime during it´s post-war civilian career; b) an "F22" as Serge suggested, although in that case it should have all sorts of late production features - see my web page http://www.geocities.com/cmpvehicles/f22.html for more details. - Hanno |

Not realy i need the pic on the frame to see were the helper is overload where the leaf touch maby my F60a is a F22 too  |
Tow hook
You may already have noticed that the swivelling tow hook is also from the later M series trucks. Any CMPs equipped with a tow hook had it rigidly (no swivel) attached to a spring that mounted to a pair of brackets that in turn were mounted either below the frame rails (generally on earlier trucks but some e.g. water tank and wireless kept this style throughout production) or between the frame rails (generally on later trucks).

My humble opinion.....
....after looking closely at the various pictures..... here is was I concluded....
It is most likely a standard Ford F15a.... did not see bump on hood... It has been rather well fitted with a 2 1/2 ton Deuce box cut to fit.... The rear bumperettes and pintle tow hook are from the same above truck... Someone has installed 20 inch rims..... the break drum and rear axle are for the smaller F15a rims...... too much clearance between drum and rim.... someone also installed a 2 speed T-case.... no big sin and more pullingpower when needed. By today's standard a very complete truck to be enjoyed as is or fully restored...... owner's choice... it's "HIS" truck...... Very complete interior...... seems to have another lever on the side of the dog house engine cover on the passenger side..... possibly to operate the two speed t-case if the proper T-case tower was never installed. Terry you have a very nice truck...... enjoy it......and make sure you document everything with thousands of photograph to be enjoyed later when you forget where things fit. My 5 cents worth.... 4.05 cents US Boob |
Hi,
Here a pic of my truc is that the bump on hood your all taking about :confused and i have a big power stering http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/458...e200420048.jpg http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/18s...jpg/1/w900.png |
Eric
If you want those pics PM me your Email address. Bob Thanks so much for the nice words, Ya I think you have it all right, the lever next to the doghouse is not connected just sitting there as its the original lever for the homemade one coming thru the floor behind the shifter I think, 2 speed transfer case, thats interesting, is this not OEM ? |
The 15 cwts all came with the single speed transfer case. Yours was probably rigged up for rugged back country use hence the 20" tires and two speed transfer case. It would help quite a bit when you ventured too near the muskeg. Been there. Done that. Sometimes a long cable and tow vehicle are the only way out.

To hump or not......

Eric.....
The Hump on the hood those not guarantee that's it a bell wringer from Notre Dame...... you would need more thana hump to make is a F22.... take a pciture of the radiator with the hood open...... and a close up of the steering box...... give us a count on the number of bolt on the egg cup flange on the front axle...... On the extra lever on the passenger side..... probably a local make shift when the 2 speed T-case was installed..... see attache picture of the original 2 speed shift tower..... the tower is on the extreme left..... this was the transplanted 2 speed T-case tower installed in my cab 11.....
