HI, MANY THANKS FOR THE PICTURES, there is no bottom to either compartment ?. I understand it sits in a tray?. Is it then bolted to the tray?. :doh:

Unfortunatly both bottoms have rusted out. We think they had 3 straps welded across the bottom & bolted directly to the inner guard. Can anyone else help?

was this box used for maps etc ? McDell I noticed on your signature the carrier number and who it was made from. My grandfathers was T10829 and was from the first batch of carriers from this establishment ! ;)

These two plates were supposed to bolted inbetween the fender and the bins to act as armour. I don't know the dims but they should be the same size "foot print" as the bins themselves. The thickness of these two plates, I would guess, is 1/4"

Of the 60 or so English carriers that made it to New Zealand, quite a few seem to be from the same batch as ours, I've seen a few data plates only a few numbers either side of ours.
As for the mounting of the box and lack of floor to the box, page 246 of Nigel Watsons first volume shows a good aerial shot of the box showing 3 straps across the bottom???
