Does anyone actually have a 100% war-time manufacture camo net. Its not the sort of thing you would expect to be retained for any long period after they went out of use.

My cloth nets are I believe dutch 1970's manufacture. Some say that the colours are wrong and the scrim pattern is wrong for WW2, but until I get the oportunity to re-do them they are better than nothing.

When were plastic nets introduced?

Adame, if you put some information in your profile you won't keep being asked where you live.

Although of the correct pattern, from the packaging they apear to have come from either Denmark or Norway?

Are there war-time labels on them are we talking about war-time pattern rather than actual manufacture.

Just interested to know if any 100% war-time examples survive.

Which begs the question:

What does a war time pattern camo net look like?

A couple of years ago I purchased a net that was advertised as a "WWII surplus camo net" from a surplus dealer in the Midwest. The net was 15' square and made of cloth and lacked the burlap scrim. An extensive search of local Texas surplus stores, Omaha included, turned up four rolls (two dark brown, one light brown, one green) of burlap scrim. I was told at the time of purchase that the scrim rolls were NOS and dated from WWII. The rolls were lacking any marking so I couldn't confirm the shopkeeper's claim. However, the scrim neatly fit the 2" squares in the net and when compared to other reenactor's WWII camo nets they were very similar. I don't know if Commonwealth armies used a different camo net than the U.S. did, but I'm content that mine is accurate enough for display. The four rolls of scrim would do a lot of nets, so if anyone has the net with the 2" squares and is lacking the scrim, let me know. Derek.

P.S. Don'tcha just love the name of the road that Omaha Surplus is located on!

Hi
