LP2A I.D. plates
 

Hello all,I was wondering if anyone knew who the fella was who was selling remanufactured I.D. plates for Aussie carriers at Corowa this year?.also there was another bloke with a van who was selling reference books on carriers.
any leads greatly appreciated.

Grant Fincher was making the plates, but I don't think he was there at Corowa and the plates may have been displayed on Shane Hodby's stand.

There were a couple of sellers with carrier books of one sort or another. Which book/s are you referring to, and the culprit may step forward? :no4:

Re the books,I,m just after general referance books I.E.history of carriers etc.
The fella at Corowa seemed to have a few but i cant remember who he was. :bang:

Phil Rider had some copies of Mike Cecil's Australian Carriers book, while someone had some copies of Nigel Watson's Universal Carrier book. Was that Euan's CGT van?

Thats probably who it was with the van,it was a fairly thick book.
I didnt know Phil had Mike Cecils book,I,ll give him a ring.

As far as reference books,

For Australian Carriers, you can't go past "Australian Military Equipment Profiles - Volume 2 Local Pattern Carriers" by Mike Cecil. It's getting harder to find now - as is volume 1 about 25 Pounders, but well worth the effort.

For Overseas Manufactured Carriers - Nigel Watson's series is ofcourse the way to go.

If you are thinking of or about to restore an Austrlaian Carrier, you will need to get yourself a set of Australian Manuals. These are available from a number of sources as reproductions. This will mean that you don't need to worry about getting them dirty in the workshop.

There are two different sets of manuals The first set are better suited to the earlier LP2 carriers, and obviously the later for the LP2A carriers, however they will do fine for earlier carriers too. Each set has three volumes - Driver's instruction, Spare Parts List and Workshop Manual.

These manuals are now quite easy to find copies of and an absolutely invaluable reference in restoraton.

Anyhow, that's my advice.

In Tony's photo are 8 of the 10 carriers present that day in 2003. Another Mk I and an LP2A were on the left of the line up.

aha my missing post is in the wrong thread!
