Ford Food Van

Myself and a few of the Ottawa "ROTTERS" had a tour of the Canadian War Museum work shops. Coincidentally the same vehicle shown on this thread is undergoing a complete restoration....they will be doing very little to the serving area as it is still in very good condition. If I remember correctly it is no1 of about 27 that were made.

cheers

Left alone

Hi Mike

One of those situations . I would have left it alone ' as is ' rather than restoring it . Some of these things look better left in their original state . The Major-General Morsehead CMP vehicle that Bandiana had is one example . A cursory rebuild ruined it . It should have been left alone .

I have seen the van in question about five years ago at Vimy House and it looks much better in the pictures. The condition was still very good, but the original paint was flaking off in fairly large pieces. I think a repaint in my opinion is a good idea, before the original patina completely flakes off! I do hope that many pictures were taken to assure the correct paint and lettering is reapplied.
