Too many $$ for me. i'm scraping just to get to corowa this year.

Always surprises me that these trailers are "worth" so much, when they are not terribly practical for the average bloke. But I've always wanted one!! Think they were going for about $400 at the Bandiana auctions, the complete (with all canvas) workshop trailers about $800.

About $400 is what I reakon they are worth. I was going to pay that for a rough one, but my ambulance appeared and was bought instead.
Although it seems that i've aquited a 1 ton pontoon trailer (or about to). A No.5 would be great, very usefull. I just hope I can nab one when they sell off all of the ones still in service. I hear that may be very soon, but I won't believe it till I ge tthe auction catalouge ;) |
Theyare obviously testing replacements at the moment, passed a convoy on the freeway last year with three matching trailers I have not seen before. From memory they were of "A"frame, not single pole configuration. Also appeared to have hand operated disc brakes on both wheels, and shock absorbers. Also very plain to look at. I stand to be corrected on this, as I was overtaking at speed and was pretty much past before I realised that they were not #5's.
I too will wait for the next round of auctions ! Rich. |
For the record sold for $1250

There are a few different ones about that i've seen. I've seen a RAAF A frame one with independent suspension, and an army one with just a regular suspension. a very long towing A on it.
