New thread: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

An idea for a new thread: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Two out of three are acceptable so here is a shot of a Typhoon and what I believe are two Morris LRCs providing, I imagine, aerodrome security. Can anyone confirm that the two vehicles in the background below the Tiffy wing are indeed Morris Light Reconnaissance cars? I know the RAF used them in both Africa and Europe.

Stirling and unknown vehicle

I've cropped this pic from a large jpeg which shows several Stirlings, many Airborne troops, a Horsa glider and this unidentified vehicle. Can anyone ID this MV?

Screw the car... isn't that one of the most majestic aircraft ever to grace the skies? Yet alas, there are no more... [sigh] :(

Yes, that must be a set of Morris LRC's.....with their unusual shape.

I'll bet it's a Ford WOA2A

Mustn't forget the trains

I assume this picture was taken at or near the end of the war showing a V2 on a rail car. If you look close you can see damage to the tail fins and blistered paint on the rest of the rocket.

On the lighter side, here's a pic of a ham-handed aircraft handler parking an Fi 156 :yappy:

A great aircraft that was unfortunately hampered by too small wings. They performed yeoman service as tugs for gliders, once overheating problems were solved by installing additional vanes to the props to force more air over the engines.

For you Jefe:

You got it right. Those are Morris LRC's, and probably RAF Regiment. Attached is a photo of mine from a reenactment in Ocala FL last year. Photo is from the same angle for your comparison. Mine is a Mk II. Pretty much impossible to tell if the ones in your photo are Mk I or Mk II. Where did you find that photo? That's a new one to me.

I found this picture for sale on ebay, thought it was a great shot of a Tiffy so I downloaded it from the picture hosting site. It was only later when I enlarged the picture did I see the two LRCs in the background. Unfortunately there was no info provided with the picture as to location or date so nothing is known about the pic. The earlier picture was cropped from the original so I'll include the entire pic for you. Derek.

Another LRC picture

Andy, here's another picture of an LRC from the I.W.M. taken in Tunisia. Further, there is a previous thread on MLU titled "Morris Light Reconnaissance car" which should interest you if you haven't seen it already.

Great Aussie scene

CMPs weren't the only piece of kit to arrive in OZ in the "Knocked down" form as evidenced by this picture of an unidentified Australian aerodrome. The P39 fuselage is laying on the floor of it's container while the walls of the container are laying on the ground. Another crated P39 awaits behind. A mobile crane lifts a wing while a tractor and Studebaker? can also be seen in this interesting picture. Can Keefey or any of our Australian friends ID where and when this picture may have been taken? Derek.
