Axles
Just a question guys, are the rear axles in 4x2 Blitz the same as in the 4x4 version? I am chasing a couple for my latest carrier project,
regards and a Happy New Year to all of our members on this forum take care and hope to see you all here next year, Ron, |
The 4x2 axles are quite a bit smaller than the 4x4s.

Thanks David, but is it the 4x4?or the 4x2? that I require?

The 4x4 Blitzes have the differential offset to the right due to the transfer case, so the left axle shaft is long and the right shaft is short, neither of which will fit a carrier (unless you want to shorten and re-spline a long L shaft!)
The Aust carriers used civvy truck axles (with the diff centred), the part number being C99T-4235, both being equal length. As to weather these are the same length as used in a 4x2 Blitz is something you will have to measure. |

Thanks Tony, for that information,

Been following this thread concerning axles for a carrier, don’t know what the supply of axles is down in Australia but I would offer this bit of information as help. After having broken both rear axles shafts for my HUP at different times I was able to find one used axle through the kindness of one of our MLUers. The second shaft seemed more problematic to find a spare. The solution was race car specialty machine shop who where able to copy my broken shaft and produce a new high strength replacement. Cost was at the time $218 US but now that I think about that was not bad cost.

Axles,
Hi Phil,
And thank you for your reply, very interesting, do you know what steel was used in making the new axle? Ron, |
carrier diff
Hi Ron and happy new year, the diff from a blitz may be the same length and configuration, but the carrier diffs have got that reduced machined section at each end for the key and saddle bracket. I don't know if it is the same on the truck diff.
regards and good luck. Colin. |

Hello Colin,
Thanks for the reply, you are correct with your comments regarding the turned down section on the carrier diff, we have a truck diff and a very large lath, and will turn it down to suit, its all part of the fun, Regards, Ron, |
