This picture is currently for sale in Ebay, bundled in anice album with more interesting pictures.

Any idea what the artillery in the back of this Morris would be?

Italian?

It reminds me of an article I saw in a modelling magazine years ago - the Italians mounted light artilery in captured Morrises - cant remember any details but will look for the article tomorow

Re: Morris CS8....portee?

Alex..
The gun itself looks like a 106 MM Recoiless rifle..the mount..???
bits and pieces maybe ..a French 1897 75MM..seats from two old Moto Guzzi motorcycles ....hodge podge field built...It did the trick til what ever put the machine in the state of the picture..

All guesses, but typical of field inspired ingenuity..

Italian autocannone 65/15 gun

This is an Italian autocannone with a 65/17 gun on Camionetta Morris CS8

The gun is an old WWI gun employed by Regio Esercito as support gun in Infantry Division.

28 of these guns were installed by the 12° Autoraggruppamento on captured british Morris CS8 trucks and assigned to the RECAM (raggruppamento esplorante del corpo di armata di manovra).

Thanks for the response guys. 28? Quite a large number of the same type of truck. Or were other 15cwt trucks also used?

It would be great to see some more pictures of these converted Morris-es with 106mm Recoilless ;)

Please allow me to forward a "hint" given by Roberto in another forum at the discussion to the same subject:

Here on the Italie1935-45 site two pictures of the real vehicle:

Italian autocannoni

The 65/17 guns were mounted only to the Morris CS8 trucks.

The 75/27 guns on the SPA TL 37 trucks

The 102/35 guns were mounted on the Fiat 634 trucks

The 100717 guns were mounted on the lancia 3 Ro trucks

The Breda 20/65 guns were mounted on 30 captured CMP 15A

but also on CMP Ford and Chevrolet F60L and C60L

Attilio
