Cool! Thanks.

Mine has the 'authorized' holes in the front fenders (to the degree of swiss cheese) where the mirrors were mounted, then broke through from vibration, then were re-mounted by drilling the holes somewhere else. Yay. I'm guessing the mod was done because we never seem to have run without the doors on, and after awhile you couldn't even recognize buildings through that supposedly-transparent vinyl much less see the mirrors in their factory position (I've seen some U.S. ones with two mirrors mounted rather than the standard driver's side only. Works quite well if you run without doors.)

The cage and the fender mirrors are not going back in this one, so it'll have the shifted-forward radio mounts as per the cage install but will retain the older rear antenna setup with the M38A1 type main ant bracket and the M38A1-type rear corner bracket. I'm hoping to have it cam-painted for the Abbotsford Airshow this weekend as we're still sitting on some original IRR paint at work that's still perfect after however many years it's been.

I'll put some pics up after. We scrounged a ton of CANADA plates from the vehicles in the Cold Lake/ Jimmy Lake hard target holding compound (mostly off the old deuces and SMP 5-Tons) so I should be able to make up a decent set with my CFR by mixing and matching stick-ons with the aid of a hair-dryer :D Worth a shot.

As far as M151A2 use in Petawawa goes, I know that 2 Field Ambulance used them and 2 Combat Engineer Regiment and 2 Military Police Platoon did not.

According to the EDR Viewer, the Canadian Airborne Regiment and 2 Field Ambulance were the only users in Petawawa.

This is all of the info relating to 1/4 Ton Vehicles on the EDR Viewer as of today

Hilarious - I was about to come on here and ask you if you had a breakdown on which ECC's were which, and like magic here it is already!

I managed to get copies of some of the same printouts that you obtained, and they raised a couple of other questions that I am hoping you or someone else on the thread might know the answer to:

1) How accurate would a Holding Unit History be? The records indicate that my truck (67-07840) was initially held by UIC 0122, CFB Chilliwack. But the Holding Unit History indicates that it was held by 1732 (CFB Edmonton Det Wainwright) from 01-JAN-67 (the default acquisition date for all '67s) until 20-MAY-80. To add more confusion, the Work Order history details only indicate 5 work orders, with the pre-1980 ones being performed by UIC 2208, which was ADM (Engineering and Maintenance). That, I believe, was the predecessor of LETE. Post 1980 the maintenance was performed in Chilliwack. Did LETE or its predecessor have a facility in Wainwright? I seriously doubt the truck went back and forth to Ottawa. My thinking is that the truck started in Wainwright, spent time with "LETE" there and was then sent to Chilliwack in 1980. Does that sound plausible?

2) If the ADM(Engineering and Maintenance) precursor of LETE did have my truck in Wainwright, any idea what they might have been doing with it?

3) Three modifications are listed:

30010000CF003
30100000CF014
30103000CF004

Any idea what these were? I suspect one is the M151 air filter, and another is the windshield washers, but no idea about the third.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

The VMO Unit Data seems to be fairly accurate with the Jeeps, but in your case, there is about 7 years worth of info missing. Comparing work orders against the VMO data, looks like it went from Wainwright to Chilliwack in 1980.
Looking at the work orders prior to 1980, in the sub heading it says: Maint Coy ASU Wainwright. The Admin Engr/Maint bit seems to be the generic nominclature info for Base Maint, as nearly all have that heading, mine included. I think your Jeep was also part of the Base Tpt Veh Pool while it was in Wainwright as no lodger Unit was listed in the Maint logs. One repair was also performed in Calgary. The Powerpack was most likely changed in 84, as 16.5hrs of "Corrective" work was performed on it in that entry.

Rob Love may chime in as to what the actual Mods are, as I only know what the M151A2 Mods translate to.

If some one has a chance could they look up the following.

It is for an Armstrong MT500 (well M50 actually) Motorcycle.

Not sure of the year.

The only tag I can find on the bike has the following info.

Engine number 193843
Frame number EC0059

Thanks in advance Matthew

C30-010-000CF003 is a generic modification for SMPs. It could be the seatbelt installation, but I can't say for certain. The seatbelts or the windshield washers are possible. I may have the answers downstairs in one of the many milkcrates of CFTOs I have squirrelled away, but no promises.
C-30-100-000/CF014 is the modification to the lower generator bracket to prevent busting the ears off the alternator. It consisted of some sliding bushings (which would just sieze anyway).
C30-103-000/CF004 should be a mod for the Cdn3. I am afraid I do not have anything on this one in my main book.

There was no mod to go to a M151 air filter. That pattern of filter assy was standard from the factory on both the Cdn2 and Cdn3 series of M38A1s.

Scotty,

I was lucky enough to find another M38A1. This time it is a CDN 2. The only sticker on the dash besides the Data plate is a 6. The vehicle manufactuer number is 7105 97670 C
Any chance you can pull up some info on this jeep with this limited info. It was owned by a former service member. I picked it up off a guy who was going to Bubba it up. It is complete with manuals, canvas and all the lights. Of course it is hurting when it comes to rust.

Thanks
Dave

Triumph TRW's

Anyone have any access to the list of CFR's to VIN's for the 1956 Triumph TRW motorcycle?

I have 56-90373 among others but this is the only one with a CFR painted on.

Jim

This is the only info I could find on the 56 Triumphs. Most likely these are just the ones held by Museums:

Here is another one of the triumphs off the list above:

I found the following at this link: http://www.britishcyclesupply.com/Bikes/BHicks001.htm

Attached is a photo of my '57 Triumph TRW. I acquired this machine in '02 from the original owner who bought it 1967 from Crown Assets. It had 1800 miles on the fine Smiths odometer. It currently has just over 8000. All original, except tyres, tubes and battery; some fittings have been replaced with AN stock, but its a week-end rider. I service it with help from Gary at Carps Cycle in Ladner B.C. It runs well on 100/ll and aeroshell 60w.

Enjoy, I do...

I would suggest that the theory about the short list of triumphs has nothing to do with museum holdings, but rather is just is the result of the old paper trails back in the day. Shame too, because with all this talk about TRWs, I ran out this weekend and bought one. Unfortunately, while almost the entire bike is still in it's original army coloring, the fuel tank had been stripped and repainted, so the CFR number is lost. I don't want to hijack the CFR thread so I'll start a new thread elsewhere on the bike.

Fellas,

I've got a few quiet weeks here at work before the next batch of training crazyness kicks in, followed by another deployment overseas.

If you require any info pulled from the EDR, nows the time.

Paul, i'm gonna have to pass on this one.

There are 1976 x M101CDN2 Trailers in the Database. Its a virtual needle in the haystack as you can't search the MFR Serial Number, only the CFR or the Base it came from. To add insult to injury, the damn database requires you start scrolling down "from back at the top" everytime you open a CFR.

Are there any Unit markings on it that might narrow it down?

Scotty

C-30-100-000/CF014 is the modification to the lower generator bracket to prevent busting the ears off the alternator. It consisted of some sliding bushings (which would just sieze anyway).
C30-103-000/CF004 should be a mod for the Cdn3. I am afraid I do not have anything on this one in my main book.

There was no mod to go to a M151 air filter. That pattern of filter assy was standard from the factory on both the Cdn2 and Cdn3 series of M38A1s.

By coincidence, I was going through some piles of paper downstairs, and voila, there was the index of the C30-010-000/CF mods. These were mods that were applicable to more than one vehicle fleet, so the m od would get the 30-010 number rather than a fleet specific application code (ie 30102=M38A1Cdn2, 30200=5/4 ton). Anyway, here are a couple of the modification instructions which we see on some of these searches.

C30-010-000/CF003: Modification of distributor caps and covers for use with autosense computerised diagnostic equipment

C30-010-000/CF009: Installation for std commercial turn signals-truck 1/4 ton Cdn2, cdn2, 2-1/2 ton, 5 ton M39 series

C30-010-000/cf-013: Installation of lap safety belts, 1/4 ton, 2-1/2 ton, 5 ton and M809 series.

There were other mods running up to CF015 listed on the index, but most of them will not concern this thread.

Man, the scraps of paper I have kept, it's a miracle my house has not burned down.

Rob, it's actually for the old US style "Decon Bottles" with the note for "CFE Units only", which is not surprising really. Even the "new" Bottles rarely got past the RQ Shop. Find them rolling around in LSVW Tool Bins from time to time, most likely tossed in prior to an ATI or something. I keep hearing guys talking about using them for applying Undercoating or Weed Killer :)

Just bought an other iltis

Hi,
I just bought an other iltis and i am looking for his history.

The cfr number is 87951.

I have an M101cdn2 with serial 1001, mfr 36221, stk number 2330-21-904-9885 and ecc 131201 if someone could find some info about it.

Really appreciate your help and read your post.

Thank you, Bruno
