Can anyone identify this M4A2 type helmut? A steel cap with steel ear flaps and headphone set. Tank or B-17 waist gunner? Cheers Rob

Rob, I'm sure it's not a tankers helmet (see attachment). It did remind me of Sally B footage so it looks like it is an aircrew helmet but I'm not a specialist in that area.

I've got a reference for a more standard shaped helmet with the ear flap's. It is an air crew one,and was apparently sprayed with felt based paint to stop it icing at high altitudes. Possibly the fabric covering on this one is for a similar reason?:confused:

either the B17 or the B24.
