Gloss O.D. paint
1 Attachment(s)
The U.S. army had gone over to using semi-gloss and full gloss O.D. paint by September 1945, certain vehicles were excepted.

Hello Mike.
I recall those paints being a hot topic of conversation in Army Motors magazine way back in the 70’s and 80’s. Opinions were pretty much at opposite ends of the spectrum regarding semi-gloss and gloss being used during the war, with most of the weight on the full flat side of things. Then colour photos of US Army trucks loaded on Landing Craft headed to France painted in shiny paints started turning up and things settled down pretty quickly after that. I think those paints were in use in early 1944. David |

The reference can be found here: https://radionerds.com/images/9/94/A...ember_1945.pdf Paints and colours in general seem to generate much discussion. Will we ever know the whole story ? |
