OMVA sanctioned events

Happy New Year to everyone,

I am in the mood to inquire and felt it best to do so in public as others may well want to know the same information.

I think I am a paid up OMVA member but if I am not maybe someone can nudge me and I will send a pigeon along with my dues, so basically I am asking from the point of view that I believe I am a paid up member.

If my mates and I in a particular area want to have an MV meet what do we need to do to get the event deemed or classed or approved as an OMVA event and thereby covered by the OMVA liability insurance?

This is a sticking point currently for me as I try to get back into being involved with the hobby.

Please let us get a clear understanding in the open so others around the province can follow our lead and put on a gathering where the public can attend and we can exhibit our vehicles and grow the hobby

Look forward to getting some clear guidance.

Dues and Events

I want to be a paid up member but I think my membership may have lapsed. Dues are how much? and where do I send them?

Robin makes an interesting point about events. With 2017 being the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation, there will no doubt be opportunities for OMVA sponsored/authorized events.

I will be interested in what come forward.

Thanks to those who are serving on the executive.

I had a long chat with Barry tonight, and yes Ryan, Barry is going to dig in and reply here when he has answers for all of us to see.

I will pm you Ryan about your dues.

I am sorry that it has taken so long for me to reply to this thread. The reason I haven't replied is because I didn't know if this is something we could do with the insurance policy we have. Question: Can a group of people that wishes to have a MV event be insured by the OMVA insurance policy? Answer: If a group of us (OMVA members) want to organize and run a event somewhere on Ontario say the Kingston or the London area then the OMVA has a third party liability insurance policy the could be used! We can provide an insurance certificate from the policy provider that will satisfy the event property manager such as a legion or municipal fair grounds. However there would be some provisions for such and event. The provisions would be following the OMVA constitution groverning such events and displaying the OMVA banner and such. More info can be supplied later about OMVA requirements. It can not be stressed enough that the policy is a liability policy that doesn't cover the normal insurance that you should and must have on your vehicle. Again the event must be planned, managed and run by OMVA members.

Les,

thank you for clearing this up and opening the way for the rest of us.

Looking forward to continuing my membership.
