Can anyone please identify !

Striker Protrusion N0 40 MKI
Part Number CM5679

It could possibly be for a Tank gun but I have no reference for it in any of my Artillery manuals.

Its actually still sealed but I have photographed it next to a N0 16 gauge so its about the same size.
The N0 16 gauge is common with most British and Commonwealth field artillery.
