British pre-war M-H
It seems that Universal Power Drives Limited which was incorporated circa 1936, of Aintree Road, Perivale, Middlesex imported Thornton and then Marmon-Herrington components which they marketed as 'Unipower' conversions. The first M-H Fordson truck was trialled in 1936.
Universal Power Drives carried on post-war offering truck conversions and was sold to Alvis in 1993 then sold on [Alvis Unipower Limited]. This would seem to date the first marriage of Thornton and M-H to 1936 in England, years before Canada's Canadian Traction Limited. I do query though whether there was any interraction between England and Windsor? |
