4 Attachment(s)
In the downsizing of our fleet, we are selling our 1985 Bombardier MLVW. This truck has been modified(by a big truck dealer) and the intermediate axle has been removed. The frame has not been shortened. This truck is not licenced for the road.
The truck has a Detroit diesel, Allison automatic transmission, 692 ratio axles. It has new batteries, all PM has been done, excellent tires, has no rust and has a new paint job. This truck starts, runs and stop. It has a platform with sides. It is an excellent truck. If interested PM me or e-mail at gilles@oops.ca

MLVW for sale

Hi Yes I have an MLVW for sale, the one for sale is the one in the picture. we have had the center axle removed, this makes it a 4X4. it is a great truck starts very well in cold weather, has good tires etc... we are asking $8000.00.
As you probably know the MLVW are not licensed for the road but Iwill give you a bill of sale which you can take to the license office, and you might be ale to get a registration??????
Also on our website militarytrucks.ca there is one for sale the guy is asking I believe $15,000.00 and is licensed for the road. But beware the registration does not match the body serial number. The person got a frame and titled from the US and applied it to the truck. His truck is in good condition but buyer beware !!!! if you are interested in ours give me a call at 613-851-7588

A question from afar

Why is it they can't be road registered?

Yeo.NT 07-01-12 23:13

The MLVW is sold as "Salvage" with no ownership and can not be licensed

Its because of the single braking master cylinder system, other than that thats it...thats why some are buying mlvws from the states changing the vin and frame number and theres come with a duel system.

Mlvw

The problems with the single cylinder brake system is easy to fix. You can now buy a 2 port brake reservoir from the US. Remove the old old install the new and run lines to the front axles.
Also we found a company the sells replacement brake system, it will convert the truck from the brake lining system to disc brakes and they will fit on the MLVW and the M35 trucks. the cost is about $4000 for 3 axles.

Stew you do have a good point. Has anyone outside of Ontario attempt to license a MLVW? If so with no luck is it possible then the Federal government may have black listed all the serial numbers to prevent the MLVW from being licensed?

When you get a favourable answer, jump in with both feet! Last year or so I had a copy of a UK MV collector's magazine with a story about a Czech BMP owner. He got a Yes for road registration from the vehicle registration office, but delayed getting the 2 or 3 changes done. When he went back, the ruling had changed. His new from reserves APC was henceforth confined to be flatbedded from parking garage to exhibition to approved "playing field". Bummer.

Hello again, Gilles.

Can you send me a link or more info on the two port brake reservoir and the disc brakes that will fit on the MLVW? Appreciated.

... and are you now in Comox or in Merickville. The latter practically makes us neighbours.

Thanks!
