oil filter part numbers
 

Hi

I remember seeing some part numbers for the two oil filter types fitted to the 216 on the forum a while back and now cannot find it. Just wondered if anyone had the numbers to handy.

AC Delco P117, the GM part number escapes me right now, since the filters are in the outside shed and we're having near blizzard conditions here.

If you wish, I'll mush out and get the GM number when Mother Nature stops being a bitch!

thanks for that, would that number be the filter for the large canister on the cylinder head as with later trucks or what appears to be the smaller one in the chassis on eariler models? I'm looking for an id on both.
I am also interested to hear if there is any expericnce of very early trucks with no oil filter at all? I have a 1940 c8 11 cab that has never been restored, has its original engine etc, but has no oil filter at all!! With me it only does a few hundred miles a year and gets regular oil change so I've always assumed that was ok... but things would have been different in its earlier life!

To save Jon exposing himself to the Elephants, the large filter is an AC P-117 or Fram C31, while the smaller one is an AC C-11 or Fram C100.

HI everyone.

Ive got a Chevy 235 in my C15A. DOes anyone know what the part number would be the oil filter in the picture as Im not sure if its a small or large one.

Filter on 235
 

The location and the cover make me think that it is the Chevy filter used on the full preasure 235. It does not look like either of the CMP Chevy filters. If I understand it correctly the filter unit and the filter are different as they are full flow rather than by-pass filters meaning that all of the oil is going through the filter. Which makes it important to use the correct oil lines larger size and full flow filter on 235 engines to be sure that they get enough oil flow.

On the picture the oil lines coming off the block look small like a by pass set up...... on my 261 full flow the oil lines are 1/2 in I.D.

Is it possible Phil that the picture shows an earlier 235 with
by-pass filter?????

What size oil lines have you got on your 261?????

I was web wandering this AM and found the following:
Wix 51500 is repaced by Wix 51503
Fram C31p and C31PL are current
Fleetguard LF504 is also a Military Senior Filter, still in their catalog (I bought 2 at the OMVA Oshawa show Cdn$10 for the pair, I think 1967 manufacture)
