Interesting Camp X finds..
The camp X Historical Society put on a small display in Whitby Sat. I included a few "field" finds from the Camp site, all are demolition related except the 3rd Pattern Dagger. The Dagger is from the Glider Land site in the Rhineland, this is where the 6th Airbourn Div landed in March 1945. The link to the site ( for the photos) is

Event?
Dean,
What sort of event? The type of event whereby a fellow with a Universal Carrier might plan to attend? Please advise, do you have a date fixed yet? Stewart |
The Plans for Camp X..
We have not fixed the date for the event, we usually hold it on the D-Day weekend. We have tried to get re-enacters interested for a couple of years but so far no one has assisted us.
We Have the Military come in and set up tents and provide generaters for the radios. We set up several HAM units and contact people world wide. Next year 2 Intel will be doing a training ex during the display. I put on the Military display, this includes weapons, uniforms ect. One thing that catches peoples eyes ( The Vets most of all) is the Bren on a tri-pod with a hundered round drum on it. We set up Friday and the display starts Sat Morning and runs through to Sunday afternoon. We would love to have any Military Vechs and reenacters on the Site. This is the original Camp X site, and our plan is to put a Museum on it. This year we had over 3000 members of the public come through. Our display is "hands on" To have re-enacters there in uniform and explaining to the public our Military past would be of great help. We gotta save this site, and any help would be greatfully recieved. All of the members of the Society would love to have a Carrier there!!. A few of us stay from Friday to the end, we have a small fire and have a "couple" in the evenings. All in all a great way to meet the public and explain about our Soldiers. Please email me at northland@sympatico.ca for more info. Thank you Dean |
