4th Canadian Armored Div Signals. (4th Canadian Army Overseas - 9th Light Aid Detachm

Hi

Could anyone help with where I can find any details on

4th Canadian Armored Div Signals. (4th Canadian Army Overseas - 9th Light Aid Detachment)

I know that they were in Holland in November 1944.

What should I be looking under?

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris;

1. - No. 49 Light Aid Detachment (Type B), R.C.E.M.E. was the LAD attached to 4th Canadian Armoured Divisional Signals.

2. - Since you, yourself are in the UK, copies of the War Diaries for:

Serial 1926 - 4th Canadian (Armoured) Divisional Signals, R.C.C.S.

and their attached LAD:

Serial 649 - No. 49 Light Aid Detachment (Type B), R.C.E.M.E.

can be found at The National Archives, Kew, under File: WO 179 (War Office: Canadian, South African, New Zealand and Indian (United Kingdom) Forces (Dominion Forces): War Diaries, Second World War).

Cheers

Kew copies

Mark,

Do you happen to know if there is any difference in content between the Canadian WD files held at Kew vs. the LAC?

Bill.

Hi Bill;

The original "hard" copies are held at LAC with Kew holding copies.

Cheers

Hi Bill & Mark

Yes, you are right that they are copies,
But they look as if they are the carbon second copy but have been signed and stamped by the writer. As stamp is red and signed in black ink.

Chris
