An afternoon with aircraft

Spent an interesting afternoon yesterday with Euan and a friend at the bi-annual International Airshow at Avalon near Melbourne and on the way visited the historic Point Cook airfield, where we had a look at some of the new exhibits - a beautiful Supermarine Walrus and A-20 Douglas Boston.
On a more active note, at Avalon I filmed the Mk VIII Spitfire doing aerobatics, along with some later aircraft - Canberra, DH Vampire and the usual F16 and FA 18 - The Spitfire was undoubtedly the most interesting to me of course!
If people are interested I'll include an aircraft section in the next Year of the Blitz video. Please let me know here if you'd like to see this sort of stuff.:)

Spits in YOTB 2

Are you kidding?
The only thing that could improve on YOTB1?
Mother Nature's only Perfect Aircraft?

Nothing like the sound of a Merlin...almost brings tears to the eyes (in a MANLY way of course....)

Keith, please stick to Blitzes and related military vehicles. There are thousands of aviation videos available, but only one CMP video until now...

OK, so which of you stalwart lads is going to be bidding on that Mk.VB Spit...? :)

Spitfires

Hanno, I realise there are lots of aviation videos and only one (so far) CMP video, but how about indulging me just one little segment on aircraft... I may do a specialist warbirds in Australia video too - there's no shortage of subjects - the Old Aeroplane Company at Tyabb being one of the most active and interesting...
My feeling is the next video (as well as having plenty of CMPs) should also reflect my site which includes all kinds of things - even YOTB 1 has non CMP segments.
If I were to make another all CMP video you'd all be waiting a long time as opportunities for filming CMPs don't come up all that often.
Having said that, there will be a segment on the recovery of a remarkable find (FGT) as well as a segment on finding a large cache of CMPs in timber country and getting one running again...

Keith,

A little sidestep to whet the appetites is never wasted, but still I like to see you do another dedicated historic military vehicle video, with a focus on Commonwealth vehicles as much as possible. As you note yourself, there's plenty material to do a "Warbirds Down Under" video, so there's no need to dilute the footage of the recovery, repair and operation of CMPs with lofty things with wings...

An honest-to-God A-20??

Oh, please, he asks as he hyper-ventilates, does the thing fly? For some reason I have a thing for A-20's and I truly believed that there were none in existence anywhere.

If any reader does not fathomwhy anyone would have a thing for A-20's read the Ernie Pyle story in "Brave Men."

Thanks. I can breathe normally now.

Bob:)

Douglas Boston

Bob, there were TWO pulled out of New Guinea and both were restored - one went back there as part of the arrangement.
And no, neither of them were restored to fly, sadly.
