Making images show

I came up with a way to make your uploaded images show up on the new forum. After you do the upload thing right click on your picture link in the manage attachments window and select copy link location. Next select the spot in your post where you want the picture then click on the URL link button that's above your text. When the window opens right click in the window and select paste. That's it. The URL links to the image that you just uploaded to MLU and the image displays on your post just like the old forum did.

David,

It's a very creative idea. But the whole point of showing thumbnail images is to reduce bandwidth usage (= $'s). So if you wish to show larger pictures, please use one of the image hosting sites like imageshack, or the G503 photo album (http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/index.php) which is what I use now.

Thanks for your consideration!

Hanno, do those thumbnails really save anything? After all, the image is already on MLUs server taking up the space, so what difference would it make? If I put my images on Photobucket or the like and something happens to my account, those images go up in cybersmoke and you're left with a useless link on the forum post and valuable info disappears.

David, yes it does. While the storage of data costs money, the real money is in the bandwidth used to transfer data from the server to your home PC. If you do not want to risk loosing an image hosted elsewhere, attach it here and provide a link to a larger photo via any image hosting site - that's what they are there for.

Some forum users have remarked they like the thumbnails because it costs less time to view a thread (especially those with slow connections). That is a factor to take into consideration also.

Thanks & regards,
Hanno

Hi Keefy
Is that one of your thumbs that you didn't move out of the way before you hit a stud with a large hammer?
