Aust PMG C15
1 Attachment(s)
I was lucky enough this weekend to have a good look at a unique Australian CMP
This is the one of the versions of the C15 rebuilt post-war for the Postmaster General's department (PMG). They were used by telephone linesmen and service technicians. These trucks were stretched 30" for a 131" wheelbase. The cab is highly modified, having a vertical windscreen and new full height doors complete with sliding windows. (Some versions even had wind up windows) The roof hatch has been removed and plated over. This truck is in very good condition and was driven into the shed where it is now stored about two years ago. It is located near Narrogin in Western Australia. It doesn't have a body on it unfortunately. |
Vertical windscreen

Shows the new vertical windscreen posts. This shot also clearly shows the new rain gutters over the door.

Doors

Note the full lining of the new doors. Lining is the sort of hard cardboard found in many vehicle interiors in the early post war period.

These plates are on the engine cover. The top plate is an engraved plastic type, the other is a pressed brass plate.

Dual cab
There was also a dual cab version of the C15 built for the PMG. This one was for sale in Perth, Western Australia about 1999.
Keith Webb also has a page on these interesting Blitzes on his website http://www.oldcmp.net/Images/pmg/diery_2.jpg http://www.oldcmp.net/PMG_1.html |
Interesting find
Also fascinating to see a two door version rather than the more common 4 door.
I wonder whether this was a two door one... http://www.oldcmp.net/Images/Chevs/C60S/mfc60s.jpg |
